If you think you have coronavirus or you have a New Continuous cough OR fever OR loss of/change of smell or taste or you have in the last 14 days been to a country or area with a high risk or coronavirus go to (www.nhs.uk for a details of high risk countries) or you have been in an airport or close contact with someone who has a confirmed case of coronavirus.

PATIENT ONLINE You can now access a summary of your medical record, order repeat prescriptions and book call back appointments via our online services. To apply for access and a password please contact our reception team who will explain the simple process.

If you are on regular medication, you should be able to get a prescription without always seeing a doctor. You will still need to come in for a review from time to time.
The simplest and most convenient way to order your repeat medication is ONLINE this can be done at any time even when the surgery is closed. You can make requests using our eConsult service or you can sign up at the surgery if you wish to use SystmOnline services, and obtain a login and password. If you do not wish to register for Online services we also have a telephone automated system, this requires a PIN, please ask our receptionists and they will arrange this for you.
If you have regular stable medication that is unlikely to require occasional/frequent dose changes you could convert to eRD - electronic repeat dispensing. This means you will not have to order every month, the GP will review and set your repeats for 6month to 12month. These prescriptions will automatically be sent to your pharmacy of choice every month electronically without the need to order at the practice each month. Medicines classed as "controlled drugs" are not suitable for eRD as they must be collected in person or by you allocated pharmacy.

Post your request by general post. Whenever possible, please use the computer printed forms for your requests. Please note that we cannot return prescriptions unless a stamped, self addressed envelope is provided. Medicines classed as "Controlled Drugs" must always be collected in person at the practice or your allocated pharmacy.
Please always allow at least 3 working days (72 hours) for your prescription to be ready for collection.
Don't forget during the Christmas Period and Bank Holidays to ensure you have enough supply of medication to last and order a little early.
Treatment Recommendations from Hospital
The NHS across County Durham and the Tees Valley is making changes to the way patients order their repeat prescriptions.
Community pharmacies will no longer be able to order repeat medication for patients. Instead patients will order their medication directly from their GP practice. Patients will still receive the medication that they need, it’s the way that they order it, that will change.
The revised process will be implemented from September 2 2019 and work is well under way to ensure this is as smooth as possible.
There will be a small number of patients for whom this will not be suitable and it may be appropriate for community pharmacies to continue to support them with ordering repeat medication. As part of the project, GP practices will identify these patients and special arrangements will be put in place for them
Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) across the area have made the decision to revise Repeat Prescription Ordering Systems (RPOS). This has been adopted from similar work already implemented in other areas such as Sunderland, South Sefton and Luton CCGs. Other areas have shown that this process improves patient safety by ensuring patients only receive medication that is required and therefore reduces medicines waste. Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs). The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.
If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 15 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.
